Manny Pacquiao’s 8th Title Win

On November 13, 2010 was another history in the making in the boxing ring. After the best boxers like Mohammed Ali and Mike Tyson retired, Bob Arum didn’t think that there would be another great boxer. It turned out that there is someone greater than the best boxers with the name of Emanuel “Manny” Pacquiao.

Given the title as the best pound per pound boxer, he just won his 8th world boxing title this 13th day of November. He won the title against Antonio Margarito in 12 rounds of boxing which was also said to be his last fight of his boxing career. Before the fight Team Pacquiao said that he is only 80 percent conditioned for the fight. But he surprised everyone including his team and showed that he was ready for the fight and brought home his 8th title.

There were a lot of people who doubted that he would win but there were also those who believed he would win against Antonio Margarito. Since he is already a Congressman, one of the distractions in his training was his political activities and other political invitations. Freddie Roach himself even said in an interview that he is not satisfied on how Manny Pacquiao trained for the fight. It seems that he is packed with a lot of surprises.

During the fight, it was all Pacquiao in all of the 12 rounds. He didn’t win through TKO but Antonio Margarito was really beaten up really bad. In the late part of the fight (around 9th or 10th round) Margarito’s lower part of his eyes was already swollen up really bad that he could barely see his opponent. On the 11th round, Pacquiao almost knocked out Margarito but he didn’t succeed because of the lack of time. But in the 12th round it was very easy for Pacquiao to win with a knock out. Manny Pacquiao only slowed down and threw soft punches because he knew that he has the upper hand and Margarito was badly hurt.

In the fight alone it showed that Pacquiao has the heart of a real champion. He didn’t use his ability to knock out his opponent knowing that Team Margarito threw a lot of disrespectful words against Team Pacquiao. In the end his talent still won over the arrogant acts of his opponent which really proves that he is the best pound per pound champion that stepped into the boxing ring. Manny Pacquiao is the first boxer who ever won 8 titles in different weight divisions.

Bob Arum said that he is the greatest boxer he has ever seen in his whole life better than Mohammed Ali and Mike Tyson. And now that the record has been set and the history has been written, there will be a lot of room in the future for more record breaking achievements.
